The interior design version of a multi-purpose room.
The client wanted this space to serve a whole bunch of different purposes. Puzzles, reading, games, and relaxing by the fire. These were just some of the activities that they envisioned for this living room-turned-library. We gutted the space then added bookshelves on all four walls, created a cozy window seat with a games table in front for one activity and then added comfortable leather chairs in front of the fireplace for reading and relaxing. Now the question was how could we furnish the center of the room, which really served as a passageway between the entryway and the playroom, in a way that looked intentional while not blocking any traffic. So I added this tete-a-tete where someone could perch on one side to hang out with the people playing games and on the other side to chat with the people reading. It was a fun and unexpected solution.
